Regional Housing and Community Development Alliance (RHCDA) announced Friday that National City Bank has awarded a $25,000 grant to be paid over three years to the organization for its CDC Capacity Building and Collaborative Grant Program.
The program provides professional development to the staff and board members of local Community Development Corporations (CDC's), including individualized technical assistance and group training classes. RHCDA also provides digital mapping and database management services to assist CDC's in planning their development activities and tracking important neighborhood information. RHCDA selects a limited number of local CDC's to participate in its Collaborative Grant Program. These organizations receive enhanced capacity building technical assistance coupled with operating support grants. Since the Collaborative was started the program has made over $2 million in operating support grants to 15 local organizations. In turn, these organizations have successfully developed over 1,200 homes and apartments, representing $182 million of new capital investments in St. Louis area neighborhoods. Other program funders include Enterprise Community Partners, Bank of America, Commerce Bank, the M&I Foundation (Southwest Bank), First Bank and UMB. |

"We are really glad to have RHCDA as a resource. We truly value their experience and commitment to foster redevelopment in our city, especially in neighborhoods that would not otherwise receive the financing or the support to make it happen on their own." - Barbara Geisman, Executive Director for Development, Office of the Mayor, City of St. Louis |
