Affordable Rental Housing Development Finance Group Training Scheduled for January 27, 2009 - January 29, 2009 PDF Print E-mail

RHCDA will be offering a 12-hour group training program on Affordable Rental Housing Development Finance at Harris Stowe State University in March. The group training will be held in 6-hour modules, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on two separate days, March 17 and March 19. Participation for both days will be important to have a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of affordable rental housing development and finance. The program will be available to community-based development organizations in the St. Louis/Eastern Missouri region.

The course will examine the skills required to succeed in developing quality rental housing that is affordable for low and moderate-income families. The class will involve presentations, class exercises and group work assignments. A calculator will be needed for the class as there will be some calculations to perform.

The Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME Program)

  • general program rules for rental housing development

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG Program)

  • Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP)

Rental Housing Development Process

  • key players and the steps in developing rental housing

Preparing Financial Projections

  • pro forma income and expense analysis
  • sources and uses of funds

Tax Credits

  • historic tax credits
  • low-income housing tax credits

Syndication

  • pricing benefits
  • investor concerns and key partnership issues

Deal Structuring

  • debt and equity investment vehicles
