RHCDA is pleased to announce its 2009 operating support grant awards under its CDC Capacity Building and Collaborative Grant Program. For 2009, RHCDA is providing grants for operating support to three top performing St. Louis area CDCs, the Emerson Park Development Corporation in East St. Louis, and DeSales Community Housing Inc. and the Old North St. Louis Restoration Group in the City of St. Louis.
Since 1998, RHCDA has awarded nearly $2,500,000 in direct grant funding to fifteen St. Louis area CDCs. These organizations have leveraged these resources to build community and organizational capacity in carrying out their neighborhood revitalization missions. CDCs funded through RHCDA operating support grants have developed over 1,000 new and rehabilitated mixed income homes in revitalizing communities, providing quality housing for St. Louis area households and representing a total investment of over $150,000,000. In 2008, RHCDA introduced the CDC Capacity Building Scholarship program in collaboration with Saint Louis University. Continuing in 2009, RHCDA will offer up to two scholarships to full time employees of St. Louis area CDCs to attend Saint Louis University’s School of Professional Studies, Real Estate and Community Development program. The CDC Capacity Building and Collaborative Grant Program is supported by leading local and national financial institutions and foundations. Continuing program support is made possible by the generous contributions of Citi Foundation, Commerce Bancshares Foundation, Commerce Bank, Enterprise Community Partners, First Bank, M&l Foundation (Southwest Bank), National City, UMB Bank and the William T. Kemper Foundation. For additional information about RHCDA’s CDC Capacity Building and Collaborative Grant program or to learn more about the CDC Capacity Building Scholarship, please contact

"Fighting the drug crime here was met with moderate success until RHCDA partnered with us to buy out 93 units of problem properties; now the drug activity has been eradicated...it was a good place to live, now Forest Park Southeast is a great place to live." - Phil Minden, Resident, Forest Park Southeast Neighborhood |
