Affordable Rental Housing Development Finance

Description: RHCDA will be offering its Affordable Rental Housing Development Finance class for community-based development organizations in the St. Louis/Eastern Missouri region..


The 12-hour group training program will be held in 4-hour modules over the course of three days. Participation for all three days will be important in order to have a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of affordable rental housing development and finance.


The course will examine the skills required to succeed in developing quality rental housing that is affordable for low and moderate-income families. The class will involve presentations, class exercises and group work assignments. A calculator will be needed for the class as there will be some calculations to perform.

Description: RHCDA will be offering a 12-hour group training program on Affordable For-Sale Housing Development Finance. The program will be available to community-based development organizations in the St. Louis/Eastern Missouri region and will be held in 4-hour modules over the course of three days. Attendance for all three days will be important to have a comprehensive understanding and working knowledge of affordable for-sale housing development.


The course will examine the skills required to succeed in developing single-family housing that is affordable for low and moderate-income families. In addition, the class will look into current housing market conditions, such as declining housing values and increased foreclosures, and their impact on neighborhoods and communities in the St. Louis region. Description: This upcoming group training class is designed to present the various programs offered by the State of Missouri that provide incentives to community-based organizations that will enable them to implement neighborhood revitalization projects in the areas of physical development in addition to the various initiatives that are used to provide incentives for the development, construction, acquisition and rehabilitation of affordable housing.


Environmental Issues in Older Neighborhoods

Description: In this class attendees will learn how to identify potential environmental hazards, their impact on development costs, the developer's primary environmental liabilities, and the developer's responsibility to address the discovery and mitigation of environmental hazards. The class will offer cost-effective options for their identification and mitigation.


The class will focus on such environmental issues as lead and asbestos hazards, demolition, noise, drainage/sewers, aging infrastructure and utility systems along with subsurface concerns such as buried rubble, trees and more.


Attendees will come away with a better understanding of how to assess potential development sites and their potential environmental risks, and will improve their ability to reuse brownfield sites while protecting neighborhood residents, promoting environmentally safe development and managing costs.
